When I turn into an eye

One of the techniques that best captures the spirit of her explorations was monotype. It is through this medium that we will create multicolored, unique prints. The themes the artist addressed in her work will serve as the inspiration for our activities. We will use the monotype technique to build graphic compositions, during which we will analyze the relationships between forms, colors, and objects.

During the workshop, we will focus on pure expression. We will experiment with combining colors, gradients, and creating collage arrangements. Monotype is a technique in which we apply paint directly to the matrix using a roller, and then make a print on paper using a printing press.

This method relies on chance and delights with painterly color smudges. Different ways of applying paint and adding cut-out elements will allow us to take a fully experimental approach to printmaking. The closed-format session will enable us to create an entire series of works and conduct an in-depth analysis of this fascinating technique.

Monika Proniewska – graphic designer and illustrator. She specializes in book design, visual identities, and posters. She has collaborated with, among others, the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, the Museum of Warsaw, and Vogue Polska. In her projects, she combines hand-cut patterns, abstract shapes, and the rough textures of printing ink with modernist typography.

Paulina Włostowska – visual artist. Her work encompasses painting, murals, lettering, textiles, and small-batch printmaking. Her works have been exhibited at venues including the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw and the Museum of Warsaw. As part of the exhibition “Maria Jarema. Cracked Modernism,” she designed a mural in the Theater, Café, Revolution room, in which she references elements of modernist typography and old shop signs.
