An abstract, black painting with a distinct, rough texture. Running through the center of the composition is a bright red, branching, organic form resembling a root, set against the outline of a crown carved into the black mass.

The Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw invites you to a new series of events for adults! The “Margines” Book Club is a place for anyone who wants to explore the broader context of art and the humanities and discover new perspectives in an intimate, friendly atmosphere.

Do you enjoy reading and exchanging ideas? At “Margines,” we combine literature with contemporary art to discuss, share interpretations, and ask bold questions. You don’t need specialized knowledge or a degree in the field—all you need is a simple curiosity.

During our “Margines” club meetings, we tackle topics that often fall on the fringes of the art mainstream. We bring into the conversation narratives and voices that history has forgotten. We meet in the MSN Reading Room on the first floor. This quiet spot, tucked away from the bustling museum building, provides a safe, atmospheric haven for our conversations.

About the exhibition “The Paths of Black People Enter the White Land”

Around the exhibition “The Paths of Black People Enter the White Land”

At our upcoming meetings in November and December, we will discuss decolonization. We will examine the relationship between culture and the colonial past and try to understand the complexity of these experiences. We’ll reflect on the place of the Global South in culture and on how historical dependencies shape our everyday lives.
We’ll draw on excerpts from reportages and books published over the years. These will include, among others:
  • “Like a White Man” – Oliwia Bosomtwe (November 17)
  • “Go Away: A Story About Polish Racism” – Agnieszka Kościańska and Michał Petryk (December 1)

After you register, we’ll send you a full reading list and tips on where to easily find these texts. We encourage you to participate in the entire series (two sessions), but we’d also be happy to welcome you to a single session.
