KINOMUZEUM is a place where independent and experimental films meet the most interesting emanations of mainstream cinema, together prompting reflection on everyday life and enriching the practice of creating scenarios for the future.
The cinema opens 30 minutes before the first screening
We are a place where you can watch European arthouse, genre cinema, films by artists, documentaries and animations, meet filmmakers and filmmakers, and discuss film art with experts working in both theoretical and practical areas. We actively screen the Museum's extensive film collection.
KINOMUZEUM's mission is to capture the frictions and intersections in the fields of art and film, but also in the social dimension, happening both in the here and now and describing our everyday life, as well as the historical ones that reveal the film archives or collections of male and female artists, making it possible to look at our contemporaneity from beyond. Working at the intersection of cinematography and modern art, playing with the tension created between theory and entertainment, together with our diverse audience we ask what cinema is for today.
The cinema's programme is created in dialogue with and with the residents of Warsaw and the surrounding area in mind. All the films in the KINOMUZEUM's repertoire - from classics to the latest premieres - are carefully watched and subjected to cinephile analysis before being programmed for our audience. Each screening is preceded by a short lecture in which we reveal why we have included a particular title in the cinema programme.
