The Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw invites you to a unique, open painting workshop led by Grupa Nowolipie—an artistic collective founded over 30 years ago by artist Paweł Althamer.
The group was initially formed to offer art therapy support to people suffering from multiple sclerosis. The participants began their creative journey by sculpting in clay. Over time, new artists and supporters joined them, and the collective itself began to boldly explore other fields of art.
For the Nowolipie Group, artistic practice is first and foremost a tool for rehabilitation. It allows them to express their own condition and tell stories about their relationships with their surroundings. The artists do not chase spectacular results. What matters most to them is the process of creating together, mutual openness, integration, and the good spirits of all participants.
FUN FACT
The Nowolipie Group’s work literally reaches for the stars! Thanks to the Lunar Codex project, since 2024 digital versions of seven of the collective’s paintings have been on the Moon. They are part of the first-ever art collection placed beyond our planet.
What will we be doing?
Every Friday, the artists from the Nowolipie Group meet in their studio to paint large-format works together. On Friday, April 10, we’ll bring this wonderful atmosphere straight to the Museum of Modern Art!
Join us and feel the energy of working together. This is an event where everyone can participate on their own terms. You don’t need to know how to paint or be an art expert. All you need is an open mind and a desire for creative fun. We provide a space for expression, good energy, and plenty of artistic freedom.
