The Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw invites you to a creative family workshop titled “Living and Creating Like the Surrealists,” accompanying the exhibition “In the Very Bowels of Change. Surrealism and Anti-Fascism.” The workshops will take place in the new building of the Museum of Modern Art, at 103 Marszałkowska Street.
In the first part of the workshop, we’ll examine selected works in the exhibition and seek answers to the question of what it actually means to be a Surrealist. What interested and inspired them? How did they view the world? Can we be like the Surrealists today as well? We’ll learn about their techniques and then try them out for ourselves. We’ll discover what a photomontage is, the difference between frottage and grattage, and how photography can be surreal.
In the creative portion, participants will create their own surrealist notebook-books, which they can take with them into the world and use to continue exploring reality just like the Surrealists.
