The Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw invites you to a painting workshop where we’ll learn the basics of making egg tempera and prepare our own paint!
At the beginning of the session, we’ll take a look at old artistic techniques that artists use much less frequently today, but which predate the acrylic and oil paints popular today. To find inspiration, we’ll take a close look at one of the works in the exhibition “The Paths of the Blacks Enter the White Land.” Together, we’ll consider how the impressions we receive through our various senses can influence what we decide to depict in a painting.
After visiting the exhibition, we’ll return to the education room, where we’ll first create some loose sketches. Then, step by step, we’ll learn how to prepare classic tempera paint, which consists solely of pigment, water, and egg yolk. Finally, we’ll put this new technique into practice together—using the paint we just made ourselves, we’ll paint unique pictures on canvas or paper.
