acrylic on canvas, 100x120 cm, 2025
The Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw invites you to painting workshops with artist Helena Minginowicz. This event is for anyone who wants to pick up a brush and see how to translate their own experiences into the language of art.

We will begin our work with a joint tour of the exhibition "The Woman Question: 1550–2025." Looking at selected works, we will search for themes of identity and personal stories of female artists recorded in the paintings. We will see how artists throughout the centuries have worked with their own image and emotions, which will inspire our activities.

What will we do?

In the workshop part, we will focus on painting. The starting point will be the title of the workshop, "ME. Everywhere." We cannot escape ourselves, our own memories, bodies, and emotions. Under the guidance of Helena Minginowicz, we will try to use our personal experiences as material for painting.
We will not illustrate specific stories or create literal diaries. Instead, we will look for form, color, and shape for what is inside us. We will paint, inspired by everyday objects and traces of reality, treating them as carriers of our inner states.

This is a workshop where we will think together about how to paint "ourselves" without having to paint a traditional self-portrait. The resulting works will be an exploration of what is personal, but also what is universal and understandable to others.

Biography of the instructor

Helena Minginowicz (born 1984) – visual artist, graduate of the Magdalena Abakanowicz University of Arts in Poznań. In her practice, she mainly uses painting, working both on canvas and on ephemeral, disposable materials – paper towels, plastic bags, and sheet masks. Her works focus on fragility – not only of things and bodies, but also of emotions, relationships, and the very concepts and ideas that shape our experience. The artist explores the illusion and subjectivity of perception, treating weakness and sensitivity as forms of knowledge. Using the airbrush technique, Minginowicz creates images that refer to the aesthetics of contemporary visual illusions – from advertising banners to digital filters. She lives and works in Poznań.
