CANCELED: It went down the drain

The Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw invites you to a series of workshops accompanying the exhibition “Przemysław Piniak. It Went to the Heels.”

The starting point for our meeting will be the work of Przemysław Piniak—an artist who, from a seemingly chaotic excess and “trash” aesthetic, built an incredibly coherent, poetic universe. Although his works often touch on experiences of exclusion, shame, and social condemnation, they are above all a powerful manifesto. It is a struggle for the right to be oneself beyond all categories of normativity.

 

During our guided tour of the exhibition, we will focus on the theme of community. We will take a close look at how the artist transforms personal traumas and fears into an open invitation to dialogue. Together, we will consider whether, in a world that celebrates the individual at every turn, Piniak’s art can serve as a guide for us in building alternative, safe spaces for being together.

In the second part of the meeting, we’ll get to work, creating a shared, spatial structure inspired by Piniak’s hybrids. We’ll begin the creative process with a brief reflection on how scattered, unwanted elements can be used to build a supportive whole. We will explore how working with recycled materials and the act of bending reality can become tools for expressing solidarity. The result of the workshop will be an installation, proof that even from waste and marginalized narratives, we can collectively shape a new, friendly world.
