Akademia Ruchu. Collection of the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw
This is the first exhibition of its kind featuring the Akademia Ruchu archives: at KINOMUZEUM, archival materials will be discussed live by participants in the featured projects.
During the screening, members of the group will share their memories, provide context, and offer their own perspectives, reacting directly to the images appearing on screen.

Akademia Ruchu, founded in Warsaw in 1973 by Wojciech Krukowski, operated at the intersection of theater, performance, visual arts, and film. In the 1970s, the group moved its activities beyond traditional art spaces – onto the streets, into apartments, and into industrial zones. Their audiences consisted of random passersby, public transportation passengers, and local residents.
“Akcje Miejskie Akademii Ruchu 1975-1978” is a documentation of activities in which simple gestures, everyday situations, and the presence of actors in urban spaces became a means of observing and commenting on social reality in the People’s Republic of Poland. The event will offer an opportunity not only to view this material as a historical record but also to hear the stories of those who helped create it.
