The Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw invites you to creative family workshops inspired by the exhibition of artist Julie Mehretu

During the meeting, we will enter the fascinating world of Julie Mehretu's work. Her large-format paintings sometimes resemble abstract plans of huge cities—a thicket of intersecting lines, layers, and mysterious, illegible signs. Together, we will consider whether a map must always serve only for orientation in the field. Or perhaps it can be used to represent our personal feelings, memories, and emotions associated with the spaces we pass every day? What will we do?

In the workshop part, we will become creators of unusual plans. Inspired by the artist's own techniques, we will make experimental maps in various formats. However, these will not be ordinary travel guidelines. Our works will become an artistic record of impressions and can serve as an invitation to joint family walks in a completely new, "unobvious" edition.

Biography of the instructor:

Mikołaj Brzozowski – MSN educator and half of the osesi collective. He is involved in literature animation and cooperation with various local communities. Co-editor of the publication "Poetry to feel. A collection of poems and exercises" – a volume of poems and a toolkit for animation work using contemporary poetry. He is a student of cultural studies at the University of Warsaw.
