Hen

movie and meeting

The protagonist of György Pálfi’s film is a hen who escapes from an industrial farm in search of a safe place for herself and her chicks. Upon arriving in a Greek coastal village, she is drawn into the world of humans and becomes a silent witness to their problems – from the migration crisis to family conflicts and greed.

Pálfi reverses the typical cinematic perspective: it is not the human who observes the animal, but the animal who observes the human. In this seemingly simple story, questions about freedom, safety, and motherhood prove to be universal–regardless of species.

A discussion will follow the screening.
