Fruit (children ages 1–3)

During the workshops, we’ll seek inspiration in the artist’s work. We’ll examine a section of his work “The Disaster of the Harvest” and together identify the fruits in the painting. We’ll look at their colors and shapes, and consider how an apple differs from a pear.

 

Our session consists of two parts. In the first part, we’ll use touch, smell, and taste to explore different fruits. We’ll examine how their skins, scents, and flavors differ. We’ll also think about whether fruits can be turned into instruments, and we’ll play a fruity melody together!

In the sensory-art activity, the fruits will serve as natural stamps. We’ll dip pieces of them in juice and stamp them onto a large surface. We’ll see what kinds of marks an apple, a pear, or an orange leaves behind, and we’ll create a fragrant composition together.

 

Olga Dyjak —educator at the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw. Painter, graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. In her practice, she explores areas of sensitivity suspended between adulthood and childhood. She collaborates with cultural institutions in Warsaw and runs her own painting workshop for children ages 2 to 16. She is interested in restoring children’s perspectives and sensitive pedagogy.
