GUIDED TOURS

Join us for Saturday tours of the Zofia and Oskar Hansen House in Szumin! Discover this extraordinary place in the company of the educational team from the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw (on select days, we also offer tours in English).

The tour itself lasts about 45–60 minutes, but we encourage you to stay with us longer after it ends. It’s the perfect time to relax outdoors, immerse yourself in the Hansens’ archival photos and designs, or ask additional questions. Families with children are also welcome—we’ve set up a special play area on-site just for the little ones.

This season, we’ve prepared some special new features for you! Join us for morning birdwatching walks, during which we’ll combine a tour of the house with observing the birds of Szumi. For those who like to combine sightseeing with creative activities, we offer sketching tours—the perfect option for anyone who loves to draw.

BIKE TOURS: ALL ROADS LEAD TO SZUMIN

Tor Kwiatek from Kwiaciarnia Grafiki—a Warsaw-based screen printing studio—leads cycling tours to Szumin. He describes them as follows:
“The tours combine train travel with cycling. We travel from Warsaw to the starting point by train. We cover the rest of the route in the spirit of cycling tourism. At a brisk pace, yet without ignoring the surroundings. Riding together allows us to explore the network of roads leading to Szumin, which serves as an opportunity to get to know the northern Mazovia region more broadly. Note! One tour starts from Mińsk Mazowiecki, and along its route we will see the “Mechanic’s House” designed by the Hansens. This is an option for those who enjoy covering long distances on a bike and are not daunted by the challenging terrain of the Bug River landscape.

The bike tour is just the first part of what awaits you in Szumin, namely a guided tour of Zofia and Oskar Hansen’s House in Szumin and a screen printing workshop. Each participant will have the opportunity to print a small-scale graphic using the screen printing technique, prepared especially for this occasion by Kwiaciarnia Grafiki and inspired by the Hansen House.

ORGANIZATIONAL NOTE
The tour routes follow local paved or gravel roads with light traffic. The final access section to Szumin is on gravel roads. The rides take place on roads open to traffic. Participants are required to obey traffic rules. Each person rides at their own risk.

About the guide:
Tor Kwiatek — artist, graphic designer, screen printer. A fan of cycling, typography, and the anthropocene. Together with the Nowe Dynasy initiative, he is fighting to save the Orzeł cycling track. He practices bicycle flânerie – Tour de Varsovie. He co-runs the outdoor galleries TOR and Ad HOK. His series of typographic representations of architecture can be found from New York through Marseille and Katowice all the way to Warsaw. He began his adventure with art by creating stickers, co-founding the vlep[v]net collective. Together with Marta Kwiatek, he co-runs the Kwiaciarnia Grafiki studio, which has been promoting screen printing culture for over a decade in the name of democratizing access to art. Using this manual printing technique, they carry out commissions and original projects, but above all, they invite creative individuals to join them on a shared adventure with screen printing. They collaborate with, among others, Maurycy Gomulicki, Karol Radziszewski, and Aleksandra Waliszewska. They promote their screen-printed works online at graphicsflowershop.com and through the exhibition series “Liberté, Égalité, Serigrafité!”, which offer the opportunity for direct engagement with the screen-printing technique. They celebrate exhibition openings with live screen-printing events that involve the audience.
