What can't we see in art?

Join us for a guided tour with audio description of the exhibition “Julie Mehretu. Kairos/Spiritual Variations”. This exhibition features the work of one of the most important contemporary artists—Julie Mehretu. In her work, she combines the idea of a turning point with the presence of the past in the present. Her works draw on history, maps, media, and social events, creating complex, multi-layered images. The exhibition features works from various stages of her career—from early drawings to monumental canvases. Another important part of the exhibition is Archive Pages (1997), which show how the artist works with materials and addresses themes such as disasters, migration, and globalization. Together, we will discuss the issues she addresses and the forms she creates.

 

We are organizing this meeting as part of the series “What Is Not Visible in Art?”, open to everyone but designed primarily with the needs of people with visual impairments in mind. Detailed audio descriptions and the engagement of the sense of touch allow visitors to experience the works presented in the exhibition. We invite everyone interested in this way of experiencing art to join us.
