The Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw cordially invites teachers and educators to a meeting devoted to Nadia Markiewicz's exhibition "Misterioso." The latest exhibition at the MSN is a summary of the artist's last two years of creative work, focusing on the medium of performance. Markiewicz explores the points of contact between disability and entertainment, making a circus illusion show the central element of the exhibition. For the artist, it is a metaphor for her own experience—a person with a missing left forearm who wore a prosthesis for many years, thus creating the illusion of her "ability" for those around her.

The meeting will be an excellent opportunity to see how contemporary art can become a tool for discussing the body, identity, and diversity.

1. Guided tour of the exhibition and presentation of the educational program:

We will walk through the exhibition space together, looking at costumes, props, and video installations. We will learn about the work of an artist who, through the metaphor of circus illusion, talks about her own experience of living with a disability and how art allows her to take radical control over her own image and history. We will experience the exhibition as a space full of extraordinary characters and stories. It will also be an opportunity to learn about the topics of the workshops and the working methods we use in our classes for schools and kindergartens.

2. Creative activity and discussion:

In the second part of the meeting, we will invite participants to take part in creative activities inspired by the exhibition. Replicating the artist's working methods, we will create alternative stories about ourselves using masks and props. Finally, we will talk about how to introduce the topic of diversity into schools in an empathetic, bold, and unconventional way using the tools of contemporary art.

Biography of the EDUCATOR:

Maria Szczycińska – graduate of the Faculty of Interactive Media and Performing Arts at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań and art history at the University of Warsaw. She works in the Education Department at the National Museum in Poznań. She has many years of experience in guiding exhibitions and conducting educational classes for groups with diverse needs. Creator of numerous audio descriptions of contemporary artworks.
