A meeting with Katarzyna Uchowicz and Grzegorz Piątek, and the film "The Bauhaus Spirit"

Join us for the first outdoor movie screening, featuring the film The Spirit of the Bauhaus. The screening will be preceded by a discussion with Grzegorz Piątek, an architect and architecture critic, and Katarzyna Uchowicz, an architectural historian, moderated by Szymon Maliborski, curator at the Museum of Modern Art (MSN).

 

Before the film, a selection of archival footage from the Enthusiasts’ Archive, part of the collection of the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, will be screened.

Can ideas outlive their creators? The documentary The Bauhaus Spirit by Niels Bolbrinker and Thomas Tielsch shows that the Bauhaus remains much more than just a historical style. The movement, which rejected “art for art’s sake,” believed that a well-designed world can change people’s lives. The filmmakers trace the evolution of this idea from its origins to the present day, meeting artists, architects, and scientists who continue to draw on its legacy. This is a story not only about the history of modernism, but also about the courage to think about the future.
