During the third screening as part of the outdoor cinema series, we’ll watch the film Aalto. Before the screening, we invite you to a discussion with Anna Cymer, an architectural historian and popularizer, and designer Tomek Rygalik, moderated by Tomasz Fudala, curator of MSN. The screening will be preceded by a video from the Polish Home Movie Archive dedicated to vacation resorts.
“Genius never arises in isolation,” Alvar Aalto used to say. The film Aalto by Virpi Suutari expands on this idea, showing that the success of one of the 20th century’s most outstanding architects was driven by his creative collaboration with architect Aino Aalto. It is a story of partnership, mutual inspiration, and the joint design of a world whose traces we can still find today. Archival footage and expert commentary come together to form a subtle portrait of two people who proved that architecture is born of dialogue.
