We are showing the work of Carl Andre with an awareness of the debate continuing to this day surrounding the accusation that he murdered his wife, the artist Ana Mendieta. Let this be an occasion to remember Ana Mendieta and her story. Mendieta died on 8 September 1985. Her husband claimed that she jumped from the window of their apartment. The prosecutor alleged that she was pushed by Carl Andre. The trial lasted three years and ended in an acquittal. The verdict sparked strong protests in America. More on the topic is available in the podcast Death of an Artist by the American curator Helen Molesworth, which is accessible online free of charge.

As we had the scheme for the exhibition organized at Gallery 6, presented at Gallery 7, we thought that the scheme suggested a military cemetery, but we didn’t think that the exhibition itself would look like the scheme for the exhibition.
