A young, talented director, Kris (Hannah Einbinder) gets the opportunity of a lifetime from a film studio – she’s to direct a remake of the cult horror series Camp Miasma, which enjoyed immense popularity in the 1980s and 1990s. To find inspiration, she goes to meet Billy (Gillian Anderson), who played the lead role in the original series. The visit with the eccentric actress quickly turns into something more than just an interview.

The latest film by Jane Shoenbrun (director of the acclaimed In the Glow of the Screen) currently has a 100% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and audiences are leaving screenings delighted.

Although Shoenbrun’s film tells the story of the making of a fictional horror series, it is not a horror film in itself, but merely draws on the genre’s aesthetics. It is a visually stunning treat for film lovers that tells, above all, a story of boundless love for cinema – and how that love changes our lives.

At the heart of this story are two actresses representing two different generations.
