Julie Mehretu, an American painter with Polish roots born in 1970 in Ethiopia, is one of the most influential contemporary artists working in the language of abstraction. On the opening day of her solo exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art (MSN), the artist will meet with the Warsaw public in the auditorium space.
The evening will begin with a presentation by Julie Mehretu, who will discuss the trajectory of her work, placing it within diverse contexts—ranging from the tradition of American abstract expressionism and a fascination with architecture, cartography, and diagrams, to her work with digital images sourced from media circulation. This will be followed by a conversation with the artist, moderated by MSN Director Joanna Mytkowska and the exhibition's curator, Szymon Żydek.
