Katy Hessel is an art historian specializing in the history of art created by women, author of the international bestseller The Story of Art Without Men, and the podcast The Great Women Artists. On the occasion of the Polish premiere of her new book How To Live An Artful Life the Marginesy publishing house and Museum of Modern Art invited Katy to come to Warsaw, meet the local public and speak about her writing, research and other strands of work.

The meeting will be hosted by Alison Gingeras, the curator of the exhibition The Woman Question 1550-2025 in MSN. It gathers nearly 200 works, which are a testament to the enduring and dynamic creativity of women artists over the last 500 years – from renaissance and baroque painting to contemporary pieces. The key themes present in the show – the unique specific of women’s creation, unequal treatment of women in the artworld, the tactics employed by them in their struggle for independence and visibility, or the histories of rediscovering of forgotten women artists, will set an important context for the discussion between Hessel and Gingeras.
