The Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw invites you to creative family workshops accompanying the exhibition “You Are at the Heart of Change: Surrealism and Anti-Fascism.”
What makes images come to life on the wall? How were the Surrealists inspired by methods of creating and projecting images that predate film, such as the camera obscura or the magic lantern? We’ll try to answer these questions together during our session.
What will we do?
We’ll start with a visit to the exhibition. We’ll take a closer look at the works of Óscar Domínguez and Franciszka and Stefan Themerson. Together, we’ll explore the extraordinary artistic techniques these artists used in their work.
In the hands-on part , both of these themes will be connected by glass—the perfect surface on which to paint. It’s also a material that beautifully transmits light and allows for the projection of images. We’ll grab some jars and turn them into our very own luminous lanterns!
