Composition of the Present was developed as part of the project Improgeneracje, which gave rise to a provisional ensemble for dance improvisation. This stage activity draws on Maria Stokłosa’s own choreographic practice, and it explores the moment when something emerges at an intersection of movements, compositions and chance.
We have improvised for 24 years, for 7 years, for 2 years. For fun, out of fear and insecurity, out of passion for risk, out of desire and longing to be loved, for the lack of money for a real show, in order to feel something, to understand, to come to terms with a trauma, because of ADHD and astigmatism. We want to be in it and with it – offered no guarantees – and not to run when we don’t know what is going on. This is a JAM, this is choreography, this is a madhouse, a break in the process of meaning, a landscape, a synchronization of senses, efforts, rhythms, imaginations, says Maria Stokłosa of the performance.
