Anti-fascist armchair activism

Passivity is fuel for fascism. The artists featured in the exhibition were well aware of this. During the session, we’ll tour the exhibition, following a path of anti-fascist activism. We’ll examine press materials, newspaper commentary, underground leaflets, and prints that artists distributed en masse to spread the ideas of resistance. We’ll reflect on how, in the face of historical upheavals, art became a tangible form of resistance.

After the tour, we’ll move on to the creative part and create our own manifesto in the form of a zine—that is, an original publication made from a single sheet of A4 paper. We’ll discuss the various techniques you’ll use while working on your zine, as well as the easiest ways to fold, print, and distribute it. Writing down your own perspective on the world and sharing it is a celebration of individuality and an open act of solidarity—and fascism hates that.

Gabriela Żylińska – educator, visual artist, and activist. She focuses primarily on textile art. She works with groups ranging in age from 3 to 90. She is studying arts education at the APS Institute of Arts Education.
