Necessary Military Reserve Force, 1978 (1-37/37)

Photographic cycle „Necessary errata“ was made as an illustration in OdgÅ‚osy (Echoes) magazine, but neither the article nor photos were ever published. In his work, while using children's toys, Libera aattempts to reconsctruct a sphere which despite integral to war, is repressed from official discourse. His toy soldiers have an additional motive of rape, violence and human physiology, questioning the seemingly natural innocence of toys, unmasking politics and entanglement in ideology while revealing their real function.

This unedited series can be treated as an announcement of Libera's later work, eg. Eroica from 1997, or his best known work, Lego from 1996 , where the artist udertook similar strategy, speaking on important and controversial issues while using toys. Via clash of two seemengly discrepant orders, fun associated with innocence and childhood and cruelty and violence, objectifying humans, those works keep desorienting and unsettling the spectator.
