Akram Zaatari

The Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw and the Arab Image Foundation (Beirut) present a show by Akram Zaatari "A muffled soundtrack and a few men smoking in a dark humid cinema".

Zaatari, a leading figure in Lebanese art, examines Lebanon's postwar condtion by working on the film and photo archives, focusing on the impact of images on common memory and social psyche. His works Video in Five Movements i L'Enlevement, presented in Warsaw are a part of "Madani" project conducted by Arab Image Foundation. Hashem el Madani was a Lebanese photograhper who ran "Shehrazade" photo studio in Saida in the 40's and 50's. It's unique archives are being scanned and processed by AIB and are subject to further artistic interventions.
