Opening of the exhibition "The Dark Arts: Aleksandra Waliszewska and Symbolism from the East and North"

  • Opening of the exhibition \

You are cordially invited to the Museum on the Vistula for the opening of the exhibition “The Dark Arts: Aleksandra Waliszewska and Symbolism from the East and North” on Friday, June 3rd at 6 pm.

"The Dark Arts" is the first such extensive display of Aleksandra Waliszewska’s works. Her prolific oeuvre is shown alongside historical works of Polish, Czech, Ukrainian and Baltic symbolists. The exhibition allows us to view Waliszewska’s mythological tropes, apocalyptic scenarios, and charged landscapes in a broader perspective: the forests and swamps, lost highways, and gloomy housing estates.

Facheroia is a DJ from Crimea who currently lives in Warsaw. Her reputation on the Polish scene is growing every year due to the excellent selection of house, garage and electro music. She is also associated with KEM – a space focusing on choreographic and performative practices, organizing regular queer events.

Caline with C came to existence as a personal experiment to challenge self-expression. Whenever things start to feel more comfortable - she has to search for other ways how to extend her music potential. That lead her from Dj’ing to producing, composing, writing algorithms for sound synthesis. She believes that music reveals the reality, therefore she seeks to communicate ideas of world - nature, human, technology - through sound.

DODOMUNDO is a Lithuanian DJ and sound artist working with themes like nature; body and bodies; sex; self-love. Exploring non-conformist ways of the traditional dancefloor, she has expanded her practice outside the club to other spaces. Her creative approach is highly intuitive and empathetic and with each performance she's trying to create a communal experience. In DODOMUNDO's sets you will hear pieces of ratchet rap, ambient music, field recordings and club elements making outsider music genres the driving force of her musical inspiration.
