Liwaa Yazji's film screening
Still from the movie "Haunted", dir. Liwaa Yazji
The Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw and the Syrian Mobile Film Festival invite the public to a showing of Haunted, directed by Liwaa Yazji.
“When the bombs fell, the first thing we did was run away. It was not until later that we realized we had not looked back. We were not allowed to say goodbye to our home, our memories, our photos and the life that was lived within them. We have become vacant like these spaces. Our hastily packed belongings and the forgotten things haunt us.”
Escape and banishment from Syria, which had fallen into a material and mental chasm, began a period of life in uncertainty, in a nonexistent space suspended between yesterday and tomorrow. Haunted is a story of the loss of home and safety, and about the real and metaphorical meaning of home in our lives.
Haunted, directed by Liwaa Yazji, 2014, 112 min.
