Les gens d\'Uterpan

Les Gens d’Uterpan is a dance company created by Paris based dancers and choreographers Annie Vigier and Franck Apertet.

For several years now their work has pointed out and questioned the frontiers between performance and visual arts as well as the limits of the human body and of representation. Those processes imply the redefinition of the practice of dance and the function of the dancer. By intervening in different frameworks, they create conditions for a new reflection on the different methods of representation, production and interpretation of dance. The position of the spectator is also put into question.

Following this line Annie Vigier and Franck Apertetin conceived in 2005 a group of several danced performances, protocols, titled X-Event. For their first visit to Poland and Warsaw, Les Gens d'Uterpan will activate few of the seven protocols of X-Event 2. Determined by an expenditure of energy taken to its limits, the performers will confront the specific architectural and contextual characteristics of the museum site and its intended use. The spectator's body, too, will be put to work and will become an agent of movement. In this way they will mark the empty exhibition space before the opening of the new season.
