The Blood of a Poet (Le Sang d'un poète)
directed by Jean Cocteau, France, 1932, 60 mins.
With its suggestiveness, a film debut of a scandalizing artist and writer transports viewers to the author’s oneiric world, which culminates in a famous scene where the character goes through the mirror. By applying innovative special effects, editing, setting and makeup methods, the author exposes himself to viewers in a certain sense. Straight after the premiere the film was accused of anti-Christian contents; it took a year for viewers to fully accept and appreciate this masterpiece.
