We invite you to a meeting devoted to the book by Jan Straus entitled “Cięcie. Fotomontaż na okładkach w międzywojennej Polsce” /”Cut. Photomontage on the Covers in Interwar Poland”, recently published under the imprint if the 40 000 Malarzy publishing house.

Apart from the author, the following persons will participate in the meeting: Agnieszka Szewczyk (Museum of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw), Magdalena Frankowska (Studio Fontarte) and Rafał Lewandowski (Galeria Asymetria).

Jan Straus (born 1946) is a collector of old books, book historian and book-lover. Since 1974, member of the Polish Association of Book-lovers [TBP]. Delivered numerous lectures on book-related subjects and people connected with books. Participated in the majority of exhibitions organized by TBP in the last thirty years.

The most important in his output is the monographic exhibition entitled: “Sztuka polskiej książki literackiej 1918–1939” /”The Art of Polish Literary Book, 1918-1939”/ (Adam Mickiewicz Museum of Literature in Warsaw, 1986). A series of his essays devoted to little-known facts from the boundary of editing and literature has been published in the “Akapit” TBP’s annual bond volumes. Former co-organizer and co-author of catalogues of several nation-wide book-loving actions. Books from his collection were exhibited at numerous exhibitions organized by national institutions such as the Museum of Literature, Zachęta – National Gallery of Art or the National Library. Author of the book entitled “Przygoda z erratą” /”Adventure with Erratum”/ (2012).
