Performance Archives

The Performance Archive is a project of MSN Warsaw seeking to gather, archive, study, and share online, materials associated with the history of performance art in Poland. The aim is to create as complete as possible an archive of the most important projects, artists and events from the beginnings of this art form in the 1960s down to the present. The starting point for the project is the documentation of performances already collected by the museum, including items in the MSN Warsaw Filmoteka and Artists Archive. To these we have added dozens of new films and over a thousand photographs.

The core of the archive is classic works in this genre created from the 1960s to the 1980s, by such artists or collectives as the Academy of Movement, Janusz Bałdyga, Jerzy Bereś, Włodzimierz Borowski, Wojciech Bruszewski, Wiktor Gutt, Tadeusz Kantor, Grzegorz Kowalski, KwieKulik, Zbigniew Libera, Natalia LL, Luxus, Jolanta Marcolla, Teresa Murak, Ewa Partum, Zygmunt Piotrowski, Anna Płotnicka, Józef Robakowski, Adam Rzepecki, Tomasz Sikorski, Artur Tajber, Jerzy Truszkowski, Zbyszko Trzeciakowski, Teresa Tyszkiewicz, Zbigniew Warpechowski, Krzysztof Zarębski, and Ewa Zarzycka.

These historic performances have been supplemented by projects developed over the last two decades of performance art in Poland, with works by artists or collectives including Paweł Althamer, Wojciech Bąkowski, CUKT, Oskar Dawicki, Artur Grabowski, Aneta Grzeszykowska, the Leeeżeć Cooperative, Honorata Martin, Paulina Ołowska, Marek Rogulski, Daniel Rycharski, Wilhelm Sasnal, Roman Stańczak, Łukasz Surowiec, Zorka Wollny, Piotr Wyrzykowski, Alicja Żebrowska, Artur Żmijewski, and many more.
