The year 2025 at MSN
What a year it has been!
Since the opening of the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw in October 2024, the MSN has been visited by over 800,000 people. In 2025 alone, exhibitions, events, and a highly popular educational program attracted over 530,000 visitors to the MSN. The museum building was nominated for prestigious architectural awards: the Mies van der Rohe Award and the World Architecture Festival Award. It was also honored with the Property Design Awards, the Architectural Award of the Mayor of Warsaw, a special award in the 29th Polish Cement in Architecture competition, and an award from the magazine "Architektura Murator".
The temporary exhibition 4 × Collection, which opened in February 2025 and consisted of 150 works from the MSN collection, was seen by over 200,000 people. Since the end of October, the galleries on the second floor have been hosting an exhibition entitled The Middle East, the Far West – Kiev Biennale 2025, while in November, two exhibitions devoted to the work of female artists were opened simultaneously in the galleries on the first floor: The Women's Question 1550–2025 and City of Women. We also had the international festival of sound art and artistic film Sonics & Scenics and the performative exhibition Republic of Cynics.
The public also visited the exhibitions in Gallery A on the ground floor in large numbers: the exhibition Think of Others. Think of Yourself. Artists for Refugees, which runs until January 11, 2026, as well as those created in collaboration with collectives: Would You Lay Your Eggs Here? Haunted Landscapes of the Urban Wetland, Salt Warehouse. This Planet is Already Inhabited, and the annual educational project Basic Forms 2024/2025. The Museum as a School. As part of the programs accompanying the exhibitions, we organized over 300 events in the form of guided tours, meetings with artists, lectures and discussions, and artistic interventions. The MSN welcomed world-renowned artists, writers, and critics such as Celia Paul, Katy Hessel, and Nobel Prize winner Svetlana Alexievich. The Hansen House in Szumin, which was opened to the public in the summer, enjoyed record popularity.
The attendance at MSN exhibitions and program events in 2025 was nearly 530,000 people. Thank you for your presence and trust!
In 2025, MSN's educational activities attracted four times more visitors than in the last full season at the former headquarters. The high level of content and inclusiveness of the offer were recognized with numerous awards, including the title of "Idol 2025" (second place in the Mazovia Province in the category of Institution Open to the Blind) and the Warsaw Cultural Education Award.
The MSN Publishing House released its first publication aimed at children – Why do we need art? by Katarzyna Witt with illustrations by Ola Niepsuj, which was honored with the Museum Award of the Year 2025 in the Educational Publications category. Other important publications this year included: the catalog of the first presentation of the MSN collection, Nowe Muzeum i niestały kanon. 4 razy kolekcja MSN (The New Museum and the Unstable Canon: 4 Times the MSN Collection), as well as Przewodnik po zbiorach MSN-u (A Guide to the MSN Collections) and the catalog of the exhibition Kwestia kobieca 1550–2025 (The Woman Question 1550–2025).
KINOMUZEUM has established itself as a new film space at the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw with a regular repertoire and a loyal audience.

Another season lies ahead: monographic exhibitions devoted to the work of Julie Mehretu, Maria Jarema and Edward Dwurnik, Nadia Markiewicz, Przemysław Piniak, and Adam Kozicki. The museum has also planned an extensive presentation of world sculpture and an international exhibition, You Are at the Heart of Change. Surrealism and Anti-Fascism.
