The Songbirds' Secret

Nine-year-old Lucy is going on vacation to visit her mom, who is leading an archaeological dig. The French town of Bectoile, though small and unassuming, hides many secrets. Caroline, Lucy’s mom, who is from the area, is working with her colleague Pierrot on one of them: an abandoned castle. Lucy isn’t far behind and is trying to solve the mystery of her grandfather’s disappearance. Does this story have anything to do with the notorious fire from years ago and the mysterious folk healer who cures animals? To figure that out, it takes more than just keeping your eyes peeled. Lucy must team up with a teenage neighbor, listen to the ubiquitous blue tit birds, and sift through old newspapers. One thing is certain: she’ll remember this summer for the rest of her life!

The film had its Polish premiere in the Main Competition of the Young Horizons International Film Festival.

The excellent Polish dubbing, directed by Jacek Bończyk—one of the most recognizable figures in Polish dubbing—also deserves special attention. However, his involvement in the project wasn’t limited to directing: Bończyk also prepared the Polish translation, voiced several characters, and sang the final song, which serves as the film’s theme song.
