Spooky interactions.

 

Prof. Rafał Demkowicz-Dobrzański and Prof. Michał Parniak from the University of Warsaw will discuss the latest discoveries in this field, the entangled charms of quantum computers, the facts and myths surrounding them, and whether reality exists—or, as some interpretations suggest, perhaps not entirely. The conversation will be moderated by Katarzyna Czarnecka, a journalist, science communicator, and editor-in-chief of the “pulsar” portal.

 

As part of the program of events accompanying the exhibition Julie Mehretu. Kairos / Spiritual Variations, MSN and “pulsar” (the popular science portal of “Polityka”) have jointly prepared a series of meetings with prominent figures in contemporary Polish science.

In her work, Julie Mehretu often refers to data visualization, systems of knowledge categorization, and methods of visualizing reality. As stated in the curatorial text for the exhibition, her “multilayered works reflect the pace, ambiguity, and complexity of today’s world,” and her entire body of work is “an invitation to move beyond the framework of simple solutions and universalizing narratives.”

In the spirit of Mehretu’s work, we propose taking a step into the realm of science, which offers alternative and parallel ways—to art—of grappling with the complexity of the social, political, and economic world; the deep history of the species homo sapiens and a surprising picture of our prehistory; and even—the ontological status of reality on the micro and macro scales.
