Nécessité concert + ENDLESS screening + talk with Alpesh Kantilal Patel

KINOMUZEUM invites you to a Nécessité light concert by Stefan Węgłowski, a screening of the film Endless (dir. Wojciech Puś), and a conversation with film director conducted by Alpesh Kantilal Patel, in which Pat Dudek, Stefan Węgłowski i Jorge Benavides will take part. The conversation will be in English.

Nécessité is an imaginary archive, an abstract moving image made of non-existent but possible celluloid and digital material of documenting light. These bits and pieces of made-up records were found at the forgotten attics, collected by phantasmal, experimental filmmakers and lately translated into precise prompts, then learned, excercised and finally digested by the AI engines. Ideally, the soundtrack composed by Stefan Węgłowski should be improvised live during the screening in the cinema.

When lonely, searching for their identity, X|A start a new, complicated affair with Frank, they are drawn into an uncanny game of feelings, which puts their emotions to the test. Relationship with the mysterious M, a collector of beauty and youth, seems like a salvation and the possibility of new beginnings. However opening to a new life imitating art has its price. Is a transition to the other side worth it?

After the screening there will be a meeting led by Alpesh Kantilal Patel, with Pat Dudek, Stefan Węgłowski and Jorge Benavides. The conversation will be held in English.

Alpesh Kantilal Patel
Dr. Alpesh Kantilal Patel’s (they/he) art historical scholarship, curation, and criticism reflect their queer, anti-racist, and transnational approach to contemporary art. An associate professor of global contemporary art at Tyler School of Art and Architecture in Philadelphia, USA, he is the author of Multiple and one: writing queer global art histories, forthcoming from Manchester University Press. They have written essays positioning east Europe in a queer, transcultural landscape, such as those in the anthologies Globalizing East European Art Histories: Past and Present and The Routledge Companion to Decolonizing Art History, and art criticism for Artforum, Art in America, and Hyperallergic. He met the filmmaker Wojciech Puś in 2015 while on a Fulbright scholarship in Poland, including spending some time on location in Lanckorona, where Puś was filming.
