MigrArt × MSN Day. Exploring Art, Rights & New Possibilities

MigrArt and the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw (MSN) invite artists, migrants, culture-makers, and diaspora communities to a unique one-day program on September 14, 2025. Part of MSN’s Common Public Program, this event aims to foster visibility, dialogue, and empowerment for migrant and diaspora artists in Poland. The day combines creative practice, professional development, and networking opportunities.

This session is especially tailored to migrant and diaspora artists, with real-life examples and space for individual questions. Artists across disciplines—from visual arts and performance to film and digital media—will gain practical tools to confidently manage their rights and protect their work.

Program

11:15 -13:45 Artistic Clinic (Poradnia Artystyczna) – Workshop room - Classroom C 

One-on-one portfolio consultations with curator Olga Klip. These 25-minute sessions provide tailored support for artists and collectives, including portfolio and CV reviews, project ideas, and career strategies. 

The sessions are available in English, Polish, Italian, French, Russian and Belarusian.

14:15-16:00 Radical Exhibition Model – Auditorium

A presentation and discussion with Olga Klip introducing an inclusive exhibition format in which every artist can participate. Participants will explore how this model can be adapted in Poland to promote openness, trust, and accessibility in the art world. 

The presentation will be held in English.

16:15-18:30 Copyright Essentials for Artists – Auditorium

A practical workshop with Dr. Jakub Dąbrowski, covering the basics of copyright law in Poland and Europe. The session includes time for questions and discussion tailored to artists and cultural producers. 

The workshop will be held in Polish with English translation.

18:30-19:30 Closing reflections and networking - Auditorium 

The day concludes with closing reflections and space for networking, offering participants the opportunity to connect, share experiences, and spark new collaborations. 

The closing discussion will be held in English.

Migrart.waw.pl is the first online platform showcasing the work and profiles of migrant artists living in Poland. It connects artists from diverse cultural backgrounds with institutions and organizations in the arts and culture sector

MigrArt functions as both a contact database and a community hub, regularly hosting networking events and professional gatherings for artists and cultural professionals. These events provide opportunities to share experiences, build collaborations, and strengthen the visibility of migrant voices in Poland’s cultural landscape.

Through projects like this partnership with MSN, MigrArt continues to create inclusive spaces where migrant and diaspora communities can thrive and contribute to the cultural life of Poland.

About the Speakers

Olga Klip - a curator and cultural manager who is focused on bridging the gap between art and everyday life. She works with underrepresented artists, particularly those facing cultural exclusion or marginalization within institutional art contexts.

dr. Jakub Dąbrowski holds degrees in both law and art history. In 2013, he earned his PhD in art history at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. He is currently an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Artistic Research and Curatorial Studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, where he lectures on copyright law and contemporary art history. He is also the author of Cenzura w sztuce polskiej po 1989 roku (English edition: Censorship in Polish Art after 1989: Art, Law, Politics, Mosaic Press, 2019).

This event is organized by MigrArt, led by Stanley Ndua, in collaboration with the MSN Common Museum Public Program.

The Common Museum program emerged from the civic panel of artists organized in MSN in 2024. The Common Museum is a series of activities and events responding to the needs of the local artistic scene in Warsaw - focused on exchanging knowledge and experience, networking, education, presentation of projects as well as public discussion of problems and challenges that artists and creatives face. The program is realized in cooperation with various local actors - organizations, unions, communities and collectives.
