“Art for Victory” is a social initiative aimed at supporting the Ukrainian people and soldiers fighting on the front lines by purchasing and delivering equipment and humanitarian supplies (including cars, medicines, bandages, and food) directly to the front lines. This grassroots initiative was organized by a group of people from the creative and activist communities, who collected works of art, signed books, and personal mementos from Polish artists and cultural figures for an auction. The MSN will host a meeting in its auditorium to launch the campaign, combined with a presentation of selected works.
The evening will begin with a presentation of the campaign’s goals and ideas by the organizers. Next, Anda Rottenberg (curator and art critic), Adam Mazur (art historian, critic, and curator), and Joanna Szczęsna (journalist and writer) will present the selected works donated to the auction. The event will culminate with an artistic program: a performance by Oksana Czerkaszyna and Aleksandra Malatskovska, followed by a concert by Mikołaj Trzaska.
Among those who have contributed to the “Art for Victory” auction are: Wilhelm Sasnal, Ewa Kuryluk, Mirosław Bałka, Małgorzata Mycek, Karol Radziszewski, Elżbieta Jabłońska, and Paweł Kowalewski. The participants have donated not only their own works, books, and memorabilia, but also pieces from private collections, including prints and drawings by Marek Oberlander, Jonasz Stern, and Tadeusz Makowski, as well as a sculpture by Stanisław Zagajewski.
The auction itself will begin on Allegro Charytatywni on September 30, immediately following the conclusion of the opening ceremony. A new batch of works will be added every 5–7 days, and the entire campaign will last approximately two months. All proceeds from the campaign will be donated to three foundations: Uniters, Sikorki in Ukraine, and Kordon. The pre-auction exhibition, featuring most of the works donated to the auction, will be on view from September 23 to 29 at the Fort Institute of Photography at 6 Szpilmana Street in Warsaw.
