HAŁAS VR is an immersive adaptation of Małgorzata Halber’s novel Hałas, starring Marta Malikowska. The premiere screenings will take place on June 20 and 21 at the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw.

The performance is based on Halber’s text, but instead of guiding the viewer like a classic story, it allows them to enter an experience of excess, distraction, and internal noise. It combines VR, Augmented Reality, and elements of video games, treating interaction as part of the narrative.

Marta Malikowska guides the viewer through a world of loneliness in constant connection, with irony and bitter sarcasm, confronting the reality of overstimulation. The whole is presented in the aesthetic of zines, post-punk, retro games, glitch collages, memes, and post-internet references.

Krzysztof Grudziński is the director. Shootme is responsible for the production of the performance, and the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw is a partner of the event. The project received funding from the Institute of Creative Ideas.

Performances take place every hour; tickets are required.
