Performance by Ewa Zarzycka in the form of a narrative for the audience in the auditorium

“My performance will be a type of appearance where my face is turned to the audience. Generally everything will occur on the verbal layer—my narration within the situational and temporal frame I have created, in which verticals, the horizontal, the event horizon and the main axis of the story are vital. It is an attempt to bring my ultra-subjective cosmos into contact with the cosmos in which all of us live. An attempt doomed to failure from the outset. Despite it all, my decision is to undertake this futile effort because the fact of the people living in this cosmos in space-time is important to me. I can’t help but address the issue of women, by recalling an important figure from 30,000 years ago. Of course, to the best of my abilities at the moment. But I hope for some unforeseen turn of events. A sign that will lead me, along with the audience, to the right level of time.” — Ewa Zarzycka

Ewa Zarzycka is a conceptual artist practicing performance art, including the particular strain of “spoken-word performance,” drawing as a record of unique texts, schemata, maps, charts. She creates objects, video, recordings and installations. She lives and works in Lublin and Kazimierz Dolny. Her works are found in the collections of institutions such as the National Museum in Warsaw, the National Museum in Wrocław, Muzeum Sztuki in Łódź, MSN Warsaw, the Wrocław Contemporary Museum, Zachęta National Gallery of Art, and  MOCAK in Kraków. She has won fellowships from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and the City of Wrocław and was the winner of the Katarzyna Kobro Award for 2023.
