23. Millennium Docs Against Gravity Film Festival

In Nigeria, a group of teenagers forms the film collective The Critics. Without funding but with great passion, they make homemade science fiction films: the village serves as the set, the green screen is stitched by hand, and local children are the actors. The film shows them both in front of and behind the camera. The director weaves their words and images into a story of debates, doubts, conflicts, and gradual professionalization. Filmmaking becomes their escape and sanctuary, and the energy, determination, and passion of these young creators – growing alongside the magic of the audiovisual medium – bring smiles to everyone’s faces.
