Film producer James Ballard (James Spader), following a car accident, begins a romance with Helen and meets Vaughan (Elias Koteas) – a man obsessed with dangerous collisions who spends his evenings reenacting legendary crashes from the past. The characters share a fascination with danger and death, immersing themselves in an underground culture where the line between human, body, and technology becomes blurred.

Cronenberg’s groundbreaking and controversial film at the time of its release received the Special Jury Prize at Cannes “for its courage, daring, and originality.”
