Film screening and meeting with the director
The WATCH DOCS Festival and KINOMUZEUM invite you to a special screening of the film Child of Dust and an accompanying meeting with director Weronika Mliczewska and Tôn Vân Anh, a Polish-Vietnamese journalist, translator, writer, educator, and activist for democracy and human rights.

It won the New Polish Films Competition and the Audience Award at the 25th WATCH DOCS International Documentary Film Festival, as well as the Złoty Róg, Złoty Lajkonik, and Polish Filmmakers Association Award at the 65th Krakow Film Festival.

The protagonist of Weronika Mliczewska's film was born in Vietnam during the war to a Vietnamese mother and an American soldier. After the defeat of the US Army, there was no place for people like him in the new communist society.
„Child of Dust” – as they were commonly called – deprived of rights and family, were condemned to vegetate on the margins of society. Throughout his life, Sang was treated as a second-class citizen in Vietnam – without documents, education, or prospects.

However, an unexpected stroke of luck may completely change his life. He "only" has to break with his old life and start a new one – thousands of kilometers away.
The project, which took years to complete, allowed the filmmakers to build a genuine, close bond with the protagonist and his family, and to create a documentary full of emotion and poignancy. Mikael Lypinski's excellent cinematography allows us to better understand a man faced with a merciless choice.
