Petra Blaisse is the founder of Inside Outside - a multidisciplinary design studio that encompasses interior design, landscape architecture, exhibition design, and textile design. In her lecture, she will talk about the Inside Outside practice based on his recently published book Art Applied and refer to artistic works created at the intersection of art and design, which are presented at the The Impermanent show. The lecture will be followed-up by a conversation between Petra and Fredi Fischli and Niels Olsen.

Petra will page through the Art Applied book selecting subjects and objects that relate to the themes of The Impermanent show. She will not only touch upon the new ways Inside Outside developed in presenting architecture or art exhibitions and the 'emancipation' of the curtain as an independent presence, but also show the way the studio applies 'found' materials and finds solutions in un-expected ways, combinations and techniques. She will also highlight the importance of (international) collaborations, each time in different compositions, depending on subject and ambition of particular projects, and present the so-called “posters” that she collaged for the book. These visual objects present Inside Outside’s mentality and views on, for instance, the importance of being alert to changes that threaten the position of minorities and the studio’s critique on the current trend of 'no risk', 'political correctness' and 'total transparency ', which impoverishes our collective experiences, flattens and simplifies our mental and physical world.
