Afrofuturism: toward new worlds. Concert by LXMP and X-Navi:Et

In her journals, Octavia Butler wrote: There is nothing new under the sun, but there are new suns. This statement from arguably the most significant Afrofuturist author reminds us that when old systems fail, a change in perspective becomes the key to survival. In the third decade of the 21st century, we dramatically need new worlds and visions of tomorrow to break us out of a sense of global powerlessness. African-American and African creativity —rewriting history and identities while imagining a better future—offers much inspiration for the here and now, combining advanced technoculture with ancestral spiritual heritage to decolonize our imaginations. Afrofuturism is not merely a storytelling convention, but primarily an aesthetic and a philosophy that extends far beyond the framework of classic science fiction. It is a radical project of the imagination that allows us to dream of a more just reality upon the ruins of the old order.
