A Tale of Two Sisters

One of the most acclaimed Korean horror films is coming to Polish theaters for the first time in a new, restored 4K version.

Kim Jee-woon’s A Tale of Two Sisters combines a disturbing family history with a story of a haunted house. It delights with its visuals, keeps you on the edge of your seat, and stays with you long after the credits roll.

Su-mi and her younger sister Su-yeon return to their family home. Their father and stepmother, Eun-joo, are waiting for them there. Their very first encounter makes it clear that living peacefully under one roof will be difficult. Su-mi makes no secret of her dislike for her stepmother, while the shy Su-yeon stays close to her older sister.

Soon, inexplicable things begin to happen in the house. Noises at night and the strange behavior of the household members heighten their fear, and ordinary conversations increasingly turn into confrontations. The sisters have each other, but is that enough to feel safe?

The intricately decorated interiors, rich colors, and camerawork make the sisters’ home a visual feast even when it’s the source of the greatest unease.

The new, restored 4K version offers an opportunity to explore this extraordinary space on the big screen.
