A Retrospective of Films by Klaudia Prabucka and Natalia Sary Skorupa

The screening will be followed by a discussion with the artists, moderated by Stach Szabłowski.
Klaudia Prabucka and Natalia Sara Skorupa are among the most intriguing artists of the younger generation associated with the Szczecin art scene. Although they use different visual languages, their work converges on themes related to corporeality, social relations, the female experience, and the tensions inherent in everyday life in contemporary Poland.
The films presented during the screening move between intimate experience and social commentary, between personal narrative and the grotesque, the absurd, and black humor.
In Klaudia Prabucka’s animations, family histories, fantasies, and fears serve as a starting point for a subversive reflection on death, desire, loneliness, and social rituals.
Natalia Sara Skorupa, known for her uncompromising performative actions, examines the violence embedded in social relations, the mechanisms of exclusion, and the political and cultural narratives that shape the experiences of women and queer people.
The retrospective includes films created individually by both artists, as well as their joint production Psia kość —a grotesque vision of a world in which the state takes control of the most intimate spheres of life. Together, they create a polyphonic narrative about the body, memory, family, love, and power, told in a language that provokes laughter as often as it does unease.
