A Ray of Light or How to Hold. Mary Szydłowska

A Ray of Light or How to Hold creates a performative space to which slowness and attention are central. The performance searches to explore embodied states and strategies for shared unproductivity, inviting the peripheral and withdrawn phenomena into play. Weaving a net of suspension, creating a soft valley of timelessness, the performance invites for a wander, a hang out and a hypnotic interplay between spaces, horizons, view points and sounds. The performers move and disperse within different spaces of the museum's architecture, alluring our ways of perceiving intimacy and connection.

The performance is part of a series of works by Mary Szydlowska on reflections on work, leisure and ecologies of attention, as well as questions around ways of belonging, sharing and arriving to spaces.

The event is part of the opening’s Choreographic Programme. With more than twenty shows, the audience will be offered an opportunity to witness diverse artistic strategies and a multitude of formal takes. The programme includes works in progress, dance acts and choreographic installations, with spectacular group productions sharing space with intimate solo activities.
