Ethical principles

The editorial staff of the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw Publishing House makes every effort to ensure that the publishing process is conducted in accordance with the highest ethical standards.

In the process of accepting publishing proposals for print, we rely on internal reviews and, in the case of academic monographs, on external scientific reviews. Publishing decisions are made through collegial discussions, maintaining standards of impartial evaluation and applying criteria of high publication quality. The publishing house's external reviewers include Polish and foreign scholars, eminent specialists in various fields of research and knowledge consistent with the publisher's thematic scope. Reviewers are required to notify the editorial office of the publishing house in the event of a conflict of interest.

We pay attention to any unethical behavior, such as plagiarism, unmarked borrowing, use of falsified information and data, republication of previously published work or parts thereof, etc. If we have reasonable suspicion of unethical behavior on the part of an author, we request an explanation and take the appropriate steps provided for in such situations. We consider rejecting the text during its preparation for publication, refusing to publish other texts by the author, as well as notifying the author's scientific unit and other scientific institutions, including making the situation public.

In its publishing practice, the editorial office of the Publishing House applies the principles of publication ethics in accordance with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE, https://publicationethics.org/core-practices).

We are signatories to the Krakow Convention, a document defining the principles of cooperation between publishers and authors (https://konwencjakrakowska.pl/).

We also comply with the principles of the privacy policy (GDPR). All personal data, including contact details, provided to the editorial office of the Publishing House are used exclusively for the current handling of publications and contact with authors. We do not transfer personal data to any other entities. The rules for the processing of personal data are available at: https://artmuseum.pl/pl/polityka-prywatnosci. The procedures are supervised by the Data Protection Officer of the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw.
