In an unstable world, art ceases to pretend to be a lasting foundation, seeking energy in what is fluid, process-oriented, and fragile. We will examine objects that combine organic and mechanical forms and explore how the human body and gestures are imprinted in matter. We will see sculptures entering into a direct dialogue with the museum’s architecture and the viewers.
Workshops: We will translate the exhibition’s theory into action on a macro scale. Working as a team, we’ll create temporary spatial installations using flexible elements. We’ll explore the relationships between movement and the presence of our own bodies, between an object and the surrounding architecture.
Sculpture Beyond THE SOLID
The exhibition “Sculpture Beyond Stability” presents contemporary sculpture in a completely new and surprising light. Permanence, closure, and perfection are no longer the primary goals of the artists. In today’s ever-changing world, sculpture is moving away from the form of a heavy, immobile monument. Instead, it is becoming a fascinating arrangement of processes, tensions, and relationships.
The exhibition brings together works by international artists who boldly experiment with materials. The exhibition surprises with its form and—importantly for the dynamics of a group tour—the works are not confined to traditional exhibition halls. The sculptures break out of their frames, “spilling” into the museum’s corridors and common areas.
